The learning fingerprint

Who I Support

Every Child, Family and school community Is Different, But there Are Some Common Challenges

That Often Bring People to Me:

Every child has their own unique Learning Fingerprint

The way they naturally process information, communicate, engage with learning and experience the world around them.

My role is to help children recognise their strengths

understand themselves more deeply and develop practical tools that help them move away from overwhelm and towards confidence, calmness and emotional resilience.

I regularly work with:

  • Children Who Have Lost Confidence In Themselves Or Their Abilities, Low Self-Esteem, Experiencing Bullying, Friendship Challenges

  • Students Who Feel Overwhelmed, Anxious Or Disconnected From Learning

  • Young People Who Believe They Are "Not Smart" Because Traditional Approaches To Learning Have Not Worked For Them

  • Children Experiencing Learning Frustration, School Refusal Or Emotional Shutdown

  • Children Who Learn Differently And Need Support That Recognises Their Individual Strenghts

  • Families Seeking Practical Guidance, Understanding And Support

  • Home Schooling Parents Wanting Greater Clarity Around How Their Child Learns Best

  • Educators Looking For Practical Ways To Support Diverse Learning Styles Within Their Classrooms

  • School Seeking Strength-Based Approaches That Support Both student Engagement And Learning Outcomes

Many of the children and families I work with have spent years trying harder, purshing harder or searching for answers.

Often what they need is not more pressure.

They Need Understanding

They Need Practical tools

They Need Support That Recognises The Whole Child

Because when children feel seen, undertood and supported, positive change becomes possible not only for the child, but for the entire family.

Understanding the Learning Fingerprint

At the Heart Of My Work Is The Belief That Every Child Has Their Own Unique Learning Fingerprint.

Just as no two fingerprints are the same, no two children process information, communicate, learn or experience the world in exactly the same way.

One of the most common challenges I see is when a learning approach or curriculum that works beautifully for one child completely misses the mark for another. This can leave children feeling frustrated, discouraged and questioning their own abilities, when in reality, they simply need information presented in a way that aligns with how they naturally learn.

By identifying a child's Learning Fingerprint, we begin to understand

  • How they process information

  • how they retain and organise knowledge

  • how they communicate and express themselves

  • what motivates and engages them

  • the strategies that help them learn most effectively

When children understand how they learn best

learning often becomes less stressful and more enjoyable

  • confidence begins to grow

  • self-belief strengthens

  • children start recognising their strengths instead of focusing on their struggles

This understanding benefits more than just the child.

Parents gain greater clarity and confidence in how they can support learning at home.

Educators gain valuable insights into how students engage with information, helping them tailor their teaching more effectively.

Schools develop a shared learning language that supports stronger communication, greater understanding and more inclusive learning environments.

My goal is not to make children fit the system

My Goal is to help children understand themselves so they can learn, grow and thrive in a way that feels natural to them.

Because every child deserves the opportunity to feel capable, confident and successful.

A message i want every child to hear...

"You Do Not Need To Learn Like Everyone Else

You Simply Need To Discover How You Learn Best"

Frequently asked questions

Do Parents Attend Sessions?

Depending on the age, confidence and support needs of the child, parents will be involved in specific stages of the support process.

I begin by meeting with parents only first, giving them the opportunity to openly discuss their concerns, observations and goals for their child in a safe and supportive environment. This helps me gain a deeper understanding of the child's experiences before we begin working together.

In most cases, I then spend one-on-one time with the child. Children are often highly sensitive to the worries, emotions and reactions of the adults around them, and some may hold back or filter their responses when a parent is present. Having their own space allows them to relax, build trust and express themselves more openly.

This does not mean parents are removed from the process. Parent involvement remains an important part of the support journey. While children benefit from having a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings independently, parents continue to receive guidance, feedback and practical strategies to help reinforce learning, confidence and emotional growth at home.

The strongest outcomes occur when children, parents and support networks work together, creating a connected and supportive environment around the child.

How many sessions will my child need?

Every child is different. Some children benefit from short-term support, while others may engage in ongoing wellbeing and confidence-building pathways over time.

Do you work with teenagers as well?

Yes. I work with both children and teens, adapting support strategies and communication approaches based on age, emotional development and individual needs.

Is Give a Kid a Break suitable for children without a diagnosis?

Absolutely. Many of the children I support are experiencing overwhelm, confidence struggles, emotional stress or learning frustration without necessarily fitting into a formal diagnosis or support category.

Is this tutoring?

No. Give a Kid a Break focuses on emotional wellbeing, confidence, learning awareness and practical support strategies rather than academic tutoring.

Can schools tailor workshops to suit their students?

Absolutely. Workshops and programs can be tailored to suit different year levels, classroom needs and school wellbeing priorities.

Do you work alongside teachers and parents?

Yes. I strongly believe children benefit most when parents, educators and support systems work together using shared understanding and practical strategies.

Are consultations suitable for neurodivergent children?

Yes… My approach is strengths-based and supportive of diverse learning styles, emotional needs and different ways children process information and engage with the world.

Are Your Programs Evidence-Informed?

Yes. My work is grounded in more than 40 years of educational experience across mainstream, alternative and homeschool environments, combined with child-centred, strengths-based approaches that support learning, confidence and engagement.

The strategies and frameworks I use are informed by established educational practices, learning theory, practical classroom experience and a deep understanding of how children process information, communicate and develop confidence in themselves as learners.

Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, I focus on understanding each child's unique Learning Fingerprint™ and providing practical, personalised support that helps them thrive both emotionally and academically.

Do you work alongside other support professionals?

Yes. Where appropriate, I work collaboratively alongside parents, educators and external support professionals to help create more connected support pathways for the child.
